Now that you've decided you need a website ...

Here's a free checklist to use when planning a website. Its useful to organize and make sure you have everything you need and can present to your designer. If you have a logo it's a good idea to have that ready also. When I design sites, I like to use the logo to inspire the overall look. If your business needs a logo I can design one for you.

Here are some other points to keep in mind:

Make it obvious what your site is offering, in other words, make it easy to find things. I have the tools to help you design a friendly, easy to use and affordable website. Don't let customers waste time hunting around your site for something simple, like how to contact you.

Now for the actual design ...

Your visitor comes to your website for ONE reason only ... they think you have what they want. DON'T distract them with blinking or scrolling text, animated GIFs, or some kind of sound or music. It's not only confusing but a sign of an amateur website.

The most important thing to remember is always keep your visitors' interests in mind. Just because you like the scrolling text, doesn't mean your visitor will. They are there for information not to be impressed by special effects.

What kind of sites do I do best?

Any type of site you can think of! I love the challenge, but here is a list of specific sites I excel at:

• Static Content Sites
• Content Management Sites - Joomla
• Blogs - Wordpress or Joomla
• eCommerce - Zen Cart

To some of you these 'types' of sites may make no sense. What I offer is the knowledge for all of these programs to be fully customized to the look and feel of your business. They are open source programs that there are no hidden costs for, other than the initial design fee you only pay for hosting. When there's updates to the programs you can hire anyone to take care of it, although my flat rate is $79 per upgrade (if I've designed it).

I also design "static sites". These are sites that change very little and the owner does not need to be able to update the site often. When the owner want changes they can email/call me and I will update their site at the current rate.
